Exporting Indian machinery to Russia
Machinery and mechanical appliances are India’s single largest export to Russia. It is also the category where a sale is least likely to be a one-off — equipment creates a service relationship, and that is what has to be built before the first unit ships.
What this trade actually requires
Industrial equipment entering the Russian market needs conformity documentation against the applicable technical regulation. Classification decides which regulation applies, so it is the first thing to establish, not the last.
Russian buyers will not commit to equipment they cannot get serviced. Either your distributor holds engineers and spares, or the deal stalls at the technical evaluation.
Manuals, safety notices and specification sheets are expected in Russian. This is routinely underestimated and it delays commissioning more often than any customs issue.
How we run it
- 01Classify the equipment and confirm the certification path before quoting anyone
- 02Identify Russian distributors with genuine engineering capability in your category
- 03Verify the shortlist — standing, territory, existing lines, service network
- 04Negotiate distribution terms, including spares stocking and warranty handling
- 05Certification, Russian technical documentation, and labelling
- 06First shipment, customs coordination, and commissioning support
